I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place. I just wanted to clarify some information you have on the crew photo of the Tenny Belle.  My uncle was Adriel "Wayne" Langendoerfer. He went by his middle name for all of his short 21 years. The photos of the crew are from my mother's photo album. The officer kneeling in the front row, last on the right, is not Carl Christensen.  I believe he is a Lt.Jenning.  I have a closeup of the crew sitting on the wall. The names of the men are hand written by my uncle. I believe that is the correct spelling of his name. He was the bombardier for the crew when that photo was taken. I have no idea what happend to him, but he was not involved in the crash. I have not found any photos of SSgt. Christensen.

I want to thank all of you who are involved in the research on the crash and the crew. I have learned much over the past several months about how my uncle died.

Thank you again!

John,

Thanks for the information, I have updated the page and the photograph with your information.

If there is anything else that's amiss please let me know.  Additionally if you get anything new you wish to add about the incident I'll happily put that on the site.

Thanks Tim. Do you know if anyone in the area has any photos of the crash? Also was wondering if any other families of crew have ever contacted you?

John,

Most of the information we started with has come through a couple of people, as of yet you are the first person related to one of the crew members of the Tenny Belle to get in touch.

There are people in the village that remember the crash, some of them related to members on the forum here. Maybe some of the other members can fill in some additional information for you.  Last I heard there was a discussion going on about what happened on the day to the only surviving member of the crew, I think he was taken to hospital by someone in the village which got him into trouble(the crew member not the villager).

Obviously we are fairly small fry in the internet as a whole and the search "Tenny Belle" has only just started offering us up on Google recently, so hopefully anyone researching the crash might come our way.

If you've got any specific questions, put them on the board here and with any luck someone might be able to shed some light on them for you.

Tim,
The information that I have on Lt.Evans, the only survivor, is that he was picked up by a local farmer and taken to the hospital.

Thanks again for your help.

It's most likely that Lt Evans was taken to Stow Hall which was being used as a hospital at that time.  Lt Evans was killed on his next mission to Germany.

I'm not even sure what Stow Hall is used for now.  Is it a residency or open to the public?

The main part of Stow Hall was demolished some years ago, after the war it became a cottage hospital prior to being returned to the Hare family as their residence.

Not sure where the records would have gone 'if' indeed Lt Evans ever went there.

Hello,

another relative of the Tenny Belle crew checking in. (TG, SSG Polizzo)

I've already corresponded with John (above) and a Dave S. (Of B.D.)

thought I'd add my post to let others know that we're still looking for info and we still care!

thank you
