WE ARE READY FOR THE BIG ONE!
Thats the verdict of Downham Market Town Mayor John Leach.
Last year we started our Water Festival and it was a huge success and I am really pleased to say that we have already far surpassed the interest shown at this stage in 2007
21 teams will be competing in the dragon boat racing competition thats over 200 people!
Said Kerry Heffernan of Downham Market Town Council: Its proving a major planning exercise to ensure that not only our competitors are looked after but also that everybody coming to watch is catered for both in body and soul!
The teams are drawn from local businesses and organisations and include two junior teams from scout troops in Kings Lynn who will compete for the junior trophy kindly donated by Frank Daymond in memory of his son.
There will be lots to see as well as the racing.
The whole of the landside area is covered with stalls and a funfair.
There is also a good choice of food available.
Everybody is welcome to come and join in the fun said Howard Phillips, chair of the Working Party organising the event.
Dont forget both parking and entrance to the Festival are free of charge.
There is also a free shuttle bus running from the town centre to the Festival site.
Lets hope we enjoy the same good weather as last year.
Programmes (50p) are on sale locally at LEWKS and other outlets in Downham Market containing full details of the days fun

Residents of Barroway Drove and the surrounding area are invited to have a go at making a miniature replica of their homes to be displayed on a giant map of the village over the summer.
Adults and children are invited to come along to sessions being held over the summer and try their hand at model making.
The idea is to bring the villages past to life by building a 3D map of the village and recreating historical points of interest by making models of buildings like the school and the chapel both of which are now residential dwellings.
People can also make models of present day buildings.
Every summer the village hall committee hold a series of activities for the children of the village and surrounding areas; these events are always popular and this we have decided to combine the usual activities, which include arts and crafts and tie-dyeing, with the model making.
The activities will be open to all ages. The sessions will take place on the first 3 Wednesdays of the school holidays.
The model village will be on display at the villages annual Flower & Produce Show in August.
